This letter from prize winner Hannah Erwin has made my month if not my year, she has written it herself and drawn pictures of some of her prizes. This is why we promote our town, and why we do what we do and will continue to keep doing it.

Dear Fleet Business Consortium, thankyou for the prizes I won on the treasure hunt. My favourite prizes are the car rug and the bratz head. I am going to share them with my sisters, mummy and daddy.
Love from Hanna Erwin age six.

This years compition was the first and a great success with over 2000 forms being picked up and handed out around Fleet.
It is estimated that over 100 people took and active part with hundreds simply trying to find out which shops we were refering to in the clues.
The response from retailers has been excellent with most telling us that they have had many customers in who would not normally visit them, and have had a chance to show people what they do without the preasure of selling to them.
Fratelli Deli - We have had lots of people in and whilst on the hunt have stopped for a coffee, we even had one person try to phone up for the price of our cherries in grappa.
Equinox - People just kept coming in and I can attribute over £120 of sales directly to the new customers who visited.
Moccachinos - People were sat in here for ages pondering the clues before setting off, it has really made people think about their Town.
Experience - We had a number of people through the door who discovered things they liked but may not have come in otherwise.
Fire Station - I don't understand why more shops don't join in, whilst the children hunted for the item many parents took a serious interest in the Fire Places we sell.
Bath Store - As a new retailer in Town what a great way to get people in the door and find out we have arrived.
Subway - We gave out hundreds of treasure maps, people were really interested by it.

We have had over 30 people get all the answers correct and have drawn the winners.

The Great Fleet Treasure Hunt Fleet has a wealth of Treasures. We are asking the public to find them. From the 19th of May until the 3rd June Treasure Hunters will be descending on Fleet to get their hands on two chests of booty. Local retailers have devised a cunning treasure hunt which should not only keep the children amused during half term but also give adults a tricky little challenge to get their teeth into. We have a list of over 30 items that can be purchased in Fleet, we are asking people to find which shop the item is in and how much it costs. Put simply who ever finds the most wins. There are two categories, under 18 and the 18's and over. The shops have donated a host of prizes to be won by the best in each category. Kevin Whibley of Fleet Business Partnership and Captured Moment in Fleet is co-coordinating the hunt, "We wanted to create a competition that would be fun for all the family whilst encouraging people to realise that Fleet really does sell a vast range of goods and offers amazing service, value and convenience that larger Towns are often falling behind on. The list of items to find includes; A Panasonic FX30 Camera, Gate Broadband Modem to protect children online, Eurohike pop up beach shelter, Fair Trade gift album, voucher for framed family portraits, home made Beef Wellington, square toilet roll holder, solid oak computer desk, Rocco 4’6” non drawer bed, Steiff giant Eeyore, a folding sack truck and a balloon time party kit, and the list goes on." Competition forms can be collected from participating retailers from May 18th including Captured Moment, Mochaccinos and Reps 'N' Pets (so that's three to get you started with), they can also be downloaded at www.fleetbusinesspartnership.com .Some of the cast of Starburst Theatre's June production of Oliver will be in Fleet on Saturday 26th of May to kick off the half term leg of the competition, handing out forms. Photograph attached, Kevin Whibley checks out the map whilst spied on by rival treasure hunters Jo Parsons-Kilburn and Maria Jones from Reps and Pets.
